SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a statement Tuesday saying troopers held a high visibility task force in San Angelo from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
According to the statement, the purpose of the task force was to help curb the spike in burglaries in southwest San Angelo and was conducted through saturation patrol in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department.
During the three-day period, troopers worked 12 hour shifts and stopped 224 vehicles in the operation zone. Of the 224 vehicles stopped, troopers issued citations or arrested offenders for 22 criminal misdemeanors, 13 felony arrests and 10 driving while intoxicated arrests.
Troopers also made several drug seizure arrests and seized four handguns.
The DPS release said, "This task force was successful because of the hard work and dedicated service by both the officers of San Angelo Police Department and Texas State Troopers coming together to better protect and serve the citizens of San Angelo."
