SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding an "armed and dangerous" man with nine warrants, seven of which are for felony offenses.
On Monday, July 18, the TGCSO and Homeland Security Investigations were conducting surveillance on a San Angelo home, believed to be occupied by Juan Morales, 38. Morales currently has nine active warrants for his arrest, seven of them being felony level offenses.
A person believed to be Morales was seen getting into a vehicle parked on the property. As law enforcement approached, the vehicle left the home and fled officers. After a short vehicle pursuit through north San Angelo, the pursuit was called off for public safety concerns, the TGCSO said in a release.
A short time later, the vehicle was found at a home near the intersection of 16th and Farr streets. Officers had reason to believe Morales was barricaded inside the house.
A search warrant was issued for the house and the SO's Special Response Team made entry, but Morales was not inside.
A search led to the recovery of a stolen handgun and approximately two ounces of methamphetamine, as well as identifying information. Criminal charges are pending.
San Angelo Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations officers helped with the investigation.
Anyone with information on Morales' whereabouts is asked to contact the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, the San Angelo Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
Morales is considered to be armed and dangerous.
