TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — A Tom Green County man was arrested by Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies on a charge of possession of child pornography.
According to a press release from the TGCSO, in December 2019, the TGCSO, in response to a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, initiated an investigation pertaining to the distribution of images of child exploitation.
The TGCSO Criminal Investigations Division identified the suspect of the investigation in May 2020. After meeting with and interviewing the suspect, a search of a home was conducted and three cell phones were seized as evidence.
The investigation continued involving Texas Department of Public Safety agents and Homeland Security Investigations agents. Further investigation revealed numerous media files of child exploitation and child pornography.
The investigation culminated in a federal grand jury indictment of Richard Eugene Turner on a charge of possession of child pornography.
Turner was arrested on July 28, 2021, and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on a U.S. Marshal hold. Tom Green County jail records show Turner was released to another agency Wednesday.
