Tom Green County Sheriff's Office warns citizens about phone scam

Someone posing as a Tom Green County S.O. sergeant is calling citizens and telling them to contact him for an "urgent matter."

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office has received reports of someone posing as a Tom Green County Sheriff's Office sergeant, using the name Sgt. Ian Rook.

According to a press release from the TGCSO, the caller says they are an employee with the sheriff's office and is calling residents to tell them they need to contact him for an urgent matter.

The phone number being used, 325-261-5595, and is not associated with any member of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone who is contacted in any manner and has questions on whether the person works for the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office should call 325-655-8111.
