SWEETWATER, Texas — Two people have been arrested by Sweetwater Police in connection to the death of a 30-year-old woman in Sweetwater.
According to a press release from the Sweetwater Police Department, on Wednesday, officers served arrest warrants for Michael Langston Franks and Brenda Gamble, for criminally negligent homicide.
The warrants were obtained in connection to an ongoing death investigation that started March 16, 2021, when SPD officers responded to a home at 604 Bowie Street in Sweetwater, on a report of an unattended death.
Officers found the body of Betty Thompson, 30. The circumstances around Thompson's death were not clear and her body was sent to South Plains Forensic Pathology in Lubbock for autopsy.
During the investigation, evidence linked Gamble and Franks to the death and the arrest warrants were obtained from the Nolan County Justice of the Peace for criminally negligent homicide.
The case has been forwarded to the 32nd Judicial District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
The case was a multi-agency investigation which included the SPD, the Nolan County's Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
No further information was available from the Sweetwater Police Department.
