TYE, Texas — An Abilene woman was arrested by Tye Police Department officers after a shooting incident in Tye left one person injured.
According to a TPD release, at approximately 3:18 a.m. Sunday, the department received a 9-1-1 call with the caller saying a shooting had happened at 126 South Access Road in Tye.
When officers arrived, they found a victim who had one gunshot wound to the chest. Officers immediately provided first aid to the victim, secured the scene and statements were taken from witnesses.
A suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was walked through the Taylor County District Attorney's Office for Bakiya Smith, 27, of Abilene. Smith later surrendered at the Taylor County Jail. Her bond was set at $100,000.
In the release, Tye PD said the Taylor County District Attorney's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, the Abilene Police Department, and the Taylor County Sheriff's Office assisted in the case.
