SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (April 8, 2022): The San Angelo Police Department said Domingo Gomez is in custody.

An SAPD release said Gomez was found at a Dallas hotel. The Dallas Police Department was contacted and officers were able to take Gomez into custody after a short foot chase.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man is wanted by law enforcement Tuesday after San Angelo Police Department Anti-Crime Unit officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the car he was driving and he fled the scene, first in the car, then on foot.

An SAPD press release said at approximately 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers saw a green car being driven by a known wanted subject, identified in the release as Domingo Gomez, 25.

SAPD’s Anti-Crime Unit tried to stop the vehicle in the 700 block of West Avene D, but Gomez evaded in the car and ultimately crashed in the 600 block of Spencer Street.

Gomez then ran from the officers and a perimeter was quickly established, the release said. SAPD’s K-9, Gang Unit and Patrol Division assisted with trying to find Gomez, but weren't able to find him.

Two passengers in the car were initially detained, but released after an investigation.

Multiple pieces of identifying information, drug paraphernalia, narcotics and a firearm were found inside the car and were seized, pending further investigation.

No injuries were reported and only minor damage was reported from the crash to a fence and home.
