ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Christian University announced its launching an ew online degree, Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
According to an ACU press release, the degree will be offered beginning May and will be offered through ACU online.
The degree is designed for licensed registered nurses who want to pursue a BSN as they continue to practice.
“This is a great opportunity for ACU to expand on our commitment to educating leaders," Dr. Stephen Johnson, vice president and chief administrative officer for ACU Online, said. "This program will provide working registered nurses with the ability to expand on their current expertise and achieve their career and educational goals."
The degree will be completely online and will consist of short seven-week courses with several start dates throughout the year.
Through the RN to BSN track, registered nurses can earn a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education - accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing in as few as eight months, according to the release.
Students with work experience in nursing and an active, unencumbered RN license will be granted 32 hours of nursing credit thereby allowing them to complete the degree in 28 track hours.
RN to BSN's curriculum focuses on leadership, ethics, evidence-based practice and community nursing, the release said. Nursing programs at ACU are led by expert faculty who educate and empower the next generation of nurses to face modern-day challenges in healthcare.
Once the ACU online's RN to BSN is completed, students wanting to earn a doctoral degree can continue into the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctorate of Nursing Practice program to expedite the DNP degree, according to the release.
Abilene Christian University's nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
