SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University will host its fourth annual ASU Education Symposium Monday, March 7, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
This year's featured speaker will be award-winning educator, researcher and author Dr. Wendy Murawski.
Murawski will give two distinct presentations at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the University Center's C.J. Davidson Conference Center. Both presentations are free and open to the public.
- 2 p.m. - "Universal Design for Learning: Adding Pathways and Subtracting Stress"
- 7 p.m. - "Embracing Inclusive Education Through Personalization and Collaboration"
As the executive director and Eisner Endowed Chair of the Center for Teaching and Learning at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), Murawski is one of the nation's top experts in co-teaching. Her research, publications and presentations have been applied nationally and internationally to help schools become more inclusive through the use of collaborative teaching. She is also a professor in the CSUN Department of Special Education and director of SIMPACT, an immersive learning simulation experience at CSUN. She is also the founder and CEO of the 2 Teach LLC educational consulting company.
Known for her high-energy and humorous presentations, Murawski has addressed various conferences and symposia in 42 states and across Europe, Asia, Africa and Canada. She has also written and edited 14 books on best practices in education and co-teaching. He research has been published in numerous industry journals.
Among her many honors and awards, Murawski has been named Teacher Educator of the Year in California and Outstanding Faculty Member at CSUN, and she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children. She holds a Ph.D. in special education from the University of California, Riverside.
