SAN ANGELO, Texas — George McFarland has been named as the San Angelo Independent School District's new assistant superintendent of business and support services officially replacing Jeff Bright, who retired in December.
McFarland comes to the SAISD with 29 years of educational experience serving as a superintendent, campus principal, athletic coordinator and classroom teacher.
A native of West Texas, McFarland holds a doctoral degree from Lamar University (2014). He is married with three children.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve San Angelo ISD in their Business and Support Services areas," McFarland said in a press release from the district. "I look forward to joining a district where competent leadership is present throughout, and where I can hopefully contribute with good stewardship of resources to help the district maximize its ability to serve the students of this great organization.”
He'll begin his new role April 1, 2020.
