SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Schools Foundation has awarded more than $65,000 in grants to San Angelo Independent School District teachers and campuses.
According to an SAISD press release, the grants are part of the district's Grants to Teachers program and were awarded in the last month.
The foundation was established in 1989 with the goal to support innovative academic opportunities for children of SAISD.
Each year, the foundation focuses its efforts on two major projects, Grants for Teachers and Scholarships for Students.
The Grants to Teacher program works to support SAISD teachers by providing classroom grants and all-campus grants hoping to enrich the district's students' education, according to the release.
The Schools Foundation has been awarding teacher grants since 1989, and as of November, it has awarded a total of more than $646,000 since it was established.
The foundation has provided schools with funding to make to make projects such as Science Technology Engineering Math campuses, Osmo interactive games systems for iPad and Books a Month Literacy initiative among others.
The 2020 SAISD teachers and all-campus awardees were awarded funds by the Schools Foundation to bring several projects and resources to district campuses including:
● an innovator lab supporting Tinkercad, Merge Cubes and 3d Printing;
● a community garden;
● Chromebooks;

● individual STEM stations;
● a sensory path;
● high-interest e-books;

Teachers and campuses applying for the Schools Foundation grants fill out applications detailing interesting, imaginative and innovative ideas to inspire and motivate students and align with the district learner profile attributes, the release said.
The foundation extends its gratitude to the sponsors and community partners who contributed to the Grants for Teachers.
