The San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has charged a third suspect in the Kristian Rose murder investigation.

Joshua D. Jaquez, 21, was taken into custody on a warrant of arrest for murder Wednesday, by the Pecos County Sheriff’s Department. Jaquez was found at a residence in the 200 block of 10th Street in Iraan.

The apprehension was coordinated with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers Division and the Pecos County Sheriff’s Department.

Two other suspects, Brian Garcia, 20, and Jacob Martinez, 18, were charged with murder on April 19, 2019.

According to court documents, after Rose's death, investigators obtained surveillance video from a business located near the scene of the murder. Video showed a dark-colored sedan at the scene during the reported incident.

Detectives were able to interview Rose's girlfriend as a witness. She told the detective that another woman had a recent "incident" with Rose. While interviewing the other woman at her hotel room, suspect Brian Garcia entered the room and the interview was ended. Another detective identified Garcia as arriving in a black four-door sedan. Photographs were taken of the vehicle at the interview site.

The surveillance video from the scene of Rose's death was reviewed and showed a black four-door sedan driven by the residence, then parking on a nearby street. The vehicle then was backed up into an alley behind Rose's apartment. People in the vehicle went into Rose's apartment, remained there for several minutes, then exited. The vehicle then was seen arriving at 3:31 a.m. and leaving at 3:39 a.m.

A detective viewed recorded surveillance video from a nearby business where they saw a Hispanic male enter the business at approximately 3:24 a.m., where he purchased a pair of gloves. He then was seen reentering the vehicle, which was then driven to the scene. The subject was identified as the same individual, Garcia, that entered the hotel room where the witness was being interviewed.

Another witness additionally identified Garcia and confirmed he was the individual in the surveillance video. Still photographs from the hotel and from the video showed the black sedan seen at both locations was a 2013 Kia Optima and was driven by Garcia.

When Garcia and Jacob Martinez were taken into custody on April 18, 2019, for an attempted burglary of a habitation, another detective identified them as being occupants of the Kia.

The second witness, interviewed on April 18, told police they were with Garcia and two other Hispanic males on the night of the murder and that Garcia's girlfriend owned the Kia. Police confirmed the information and the witness identified the two males with them and Garcia as Jaquez and Martinez.

The witness said the group, including Jaquez, Martinez and Garcia, were at a home on Angelo Boulevard where the men were discussing "people who had the most they could take." After the conversation, the group got into the Kia and headed to the area near the coliseum with Garcia allegedly telling the driver where to turn.

Garcia then allegedly told the driver (witness) to let Jaquez drive. After stopping at Rose's apartment Garcia told the witness that he "needed to do something." After Martinez popped the trunk, the witness told police that they heard Jaquez tell Martinez to "not forget the Taser."

Court documents state that the witness denied knowledge of harm coming to Rose. The witness told detectives they saw the trio wearing gloves and masks as they exited the sedan.

The victim's dog entered the car when the trio returned. Garcia and Martinez both had firearms visible when they entered the vehicle. The witness said she knew the dog belonged to Rose. Jaquez drove the car from the scene with the witness and the other two men. They stopped at a home near LBJ and 28th streets.

The witness said that Martinez had blood on his clothes and when asked about it, Martinez told the witness to "shut up." The witness then said Martinez prodded them with a gun and asked if they knew anything. The witness answered that they "knew nothing," to which Martinez replied, "That's what I (expletive) thought."

The witness did not learn until later that Rose was dead and had been murdered. They told detectives that Garcia told them "he was sorry for what had happened," several times.

April 17, the witness said was the last time they spoke to Jaquez, who told the witness to "say nothing" because no one knew anything about the incident.

An additional witness told police they spoke to Jaquez April 23, and he told them he was in the car during the incident and that they stopped at a house afterwards, where two of the subjects entered another vehicle. Garcia and the witness who was in the vehicle during the incident stayed together.

On the night of the incident Martinez allegedly called his father, Darrell Martinez, who lives on JFK. The father said he was at Jacob's house fixing the sink, but Jacob told him to come back to his home on JFK. Jacob told Darrell that he had been in a fight and asked to leave a bag at the residence.

Jacob was with Garcia, a female and Jaquez, who they called "J". Darrell described "J" as being feminine to police. He was shown a photo lineup, where he identified a witness and Jaquez as the subjects who were with the witness and Garcia.

Darrell described the subjects appearances as if they were "wearing dark clothes as if they did not want anyone to see them." They arrived in the house in Darrel's daughter's vehicle, according to the documents.

An arrest warrant for Jaquez was filed April 30, 2019.

The San Angelo Police Department said in a release that this is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
