SAN ANGELO, TX — Dr. Carol Ann Bonds of the Texas Military Preparedness Commission confirmed that Goodfellow was moved from spot number 3 to spot number 2 on the list of Texas military bases up for consideration to house migrants.
Along with Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, there will also be a camp at Fort Bliss located outside of El Paso will house people who cross the southern border illegally.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, "In the past week, the U.S. Government has separated more than 2,500 migrant children from their parents. "
One week ago today President Trump reshaped his zero-tolerance policy and now immigrant families will be detained together.
According to Bonds, they will have all they need on base. There is about 60 acres where the structures will be built.
They will have their own cooks, teachers, and activities.
Bonds does not know exactly when they will arrive or how long they will stay.
