City of San Angelo extends local disaster declaration to be in line with state order

The San Angelo City Council has extended the local disaster declaration, but eased some restrictions, including opening the pedestrian trail on Gun Club Road May 4.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo City Council voted unanimously Thursday to extend the local disaster declaration, effective immediately. The order, which was set to expire Thursday, will continue in line with Gov. Greg Abbott's executive order for the state.

Council also voted to ease some restrictions for San Angelo including: 

  • No itinerant or temporary health permits will be issued for the duration of the order.
  • All fee increases for Fiscal Year 2020/2021 under the adopted San Angelo Budget Policy are postponed and will be re-evaluated in accordance with the policy in preparation for the FY 2021/2022 budget.
  • The city manager can enter into any agreements necessary to provide shelter or basic needs related to the declaration.
  • Hillside Drive and Gun Club Road, commonly referred to as the KOA trail, will reopen to pedestrian traffic at midnight May 4. Parking will be delineated by staff with signage placed to prohibit parking in the right-of-way or on pavement outside of designated parking areas.
  • All late fees for late payments for water utility customers will continue to be waived through May 31.
