Abilene-Taylor Co. Public Health District confirms five additional COVID-19-related deaths Saturday

The health district also reported 72 new confirmed COVID-19 cases.

ABILENE, Taylor County — The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed five additional COVID-19-related deaths in Taylor County Saturday.

The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Taylor County to 215.

The patients were a man in his 90s, a woman in her 80s, a man in his 80s, a man in his 80s and a man in his 70s.

The health district also reported 72 new confirmed COVID-19 cases - 62 PCR and 110 antigen.

There were 98 recoveries reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,582.

There were also 121 total hospitalizations included in the report.

The updated number of total hospitalizations for Saturday, Jan. 9 were not available at the time of the release, according to the health district.

There have been 44,020 PCR and 57,067 antigen tests administered in Taylor County. Of those tests, 5,370 PCR and 6,673 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

Additionally, 38,650 negative PCR and 50,394 negative antigen test results were reported.
