Nine additional COVID-19-related deaths reported in Taylor Co.

Eighty-five new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 116 total hospitalizations were included in the report.

ABILENE, Taylor County — The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed nine new COVID-19-related deaths in Taylor County Friday.

The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 143 in the county.

Six of the nine patients were reported by the state and reconciled in the health district's system, according to the release.

The patients were:

  • a man in his 80s with pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 80s. It is unknown if he had pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 70s. It is unknown if he had pre-existing conditions

The patients reported by the state were:

  • a woman in her 70s with pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 70s. It is unknown whether they had pre-existing conditions.
  • a woman in her 70s with pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 80s with pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 70s. It is unknown whether he had pre-existing conditions
  • a man in his 70s. It is unknown whether he had pre-existing conditions

The health district said there were 85 new confirmed COVID-19 cases - 28 PCR and 57 antigen.

There were 145 recoveries also reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,647.

One-hundred-sixteen total hospitalizations were included in the report.

As of Dec. 11, Taylor County has administered 35,968 PCR and 42,520 antigen tests, of which, 4,097 PCR and 5,131 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

Additionally,  31,936 negative PCR and 37, 864 negative antigen tests reported.
