Tom Green Co. Sheriff's Office informs public of rabid kitten in Harriett

As a matter of public safety, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is alerting the community in the Harriett area about a kitten with rabies.

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — The Tom Green County Sheriff's distributed a public service announcement Monday afternoon to alert community members in the Harriett area of a public safety concern stemming from one confirmed case of a kitten having rabies.

Citizens are encouraged to make sure their pets are properly vaccinated and call the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office immediately at 325-655-8111, if they see a suspected case.

Signs of rabies include, but are not limited to:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Aggressiveness/irritability
  • Hypersensitivity to light, touch and sound
  • Foaming at the mouth
  • Fever
  • Lethargy/paralysis
  • Seizures
  • Disorientation/staggering.
