Tom Green County parks closed through May 31

Starting Thursday evening, all public park areas in Tom Green County, outside San Angelo city limits, are closed to the public.

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — A decision has been made to close Tom Green County parks after having excessive numbers of people congregating in the parks during a declared disaster. The disaster declaration includes rules for situations in which congregation outside households is largely prohibited to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, all public park areas in Tom Green County, but outside San Angelo city limits, are closed to the public for any and all activities.

These areas include but are not limited to the following:

a. Foster Park, 10550 FM 2335 S, Tom Green County
b. Pugh Park, RR 2084, Christoval
c. Mineral Wells Crossing on Mineral Wells Road, just north of Christoval at the South Concho River

d. Causeway and/or low water crossing at Loop 110 in Christoval

The closure of these areas will continue through 11 p.m. May 31, unless otherwise extended by future order.

The purpose of this order is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. This order does not close parks within San Angelo city limits.
