It's been 6 months since San Angelo Gives! Where part of the $1.6 million went

It's been 6 months since the San Angelo Area Foundation hosted their annual San Angelo gives fundraiser for nonprofits across Tom Green County. Tonight, our Brenda Matute is checking in on the organization that received the most money and seeing how they've used all their funds.

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Gives raised $1,680,296, and out of all that, the largest chunk went to Cornerstone Christian School with over $116,000.

"Our school motto is where god and education come together"

It's quite a chunk of change, but Administrator Cynthia Robinson says those funds came at the right time.

"We needed some upgrades for our servers and a couple of needs in our computer labs,” said Robinson. "We’re able to get some specific programs for students as far as typing needs and just basic classroom curriculum type needs."

The left-over funds go toward subsidizing tuition costs for families who need it, and to provide teachers with what Robinson calls a "more livable salary".

"Also, help cover the cost of health insurance increases," she said.

Cornerstone has only participated in San Angelo Gives for 5 years. Before that, their donations came in through events like golf tournaments and raffles

"A dinner fundraising event," said Robinson.

But now things are different and they're thankful.

"You can be sitting on your couch at home and say yes I love Cornerstone, i want to help that school," she said.

And they in turn show love right back to the community.

"What is important is that we give back too so he last few years we have been able to bless House of Faith and give towards their efforts that they're doing for the community," said Robinson.
