Kids continue education through AISD summer technology camps

AISD kicked off its summer technology camp.

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Independent School District officially kicked of this year’s summer technology camp.

Children from second until ninth grade learn about robotics, animation creation and digital arts.

"You see a lot of sports camps, you see some academic camps like reading camps, but that's changed a little bit over the years,” AISD technology specialist, Lucille Fullen.

The district has been offering the technology camp for about 10 years now to fill the need. Students learn valuable skills like being persistent.

"You're going to need problem solving, I use problem solving everyday as an adult, and if you're not giving them opportunities to struggle…they'll not learn how to overcome that and really keep going,” AISD technology instructor, Morgan Garza said.

Camp is going on from June 10-13 and June 17-20. You can find out more about registration at www.abileneisd.org, or call 677-144, ext. 3867.
