BROWNWOOD, Texas —
“A lot of time you hear about layoffs and you say oh those poor people, but these are our friends and neighbors,” Ray Tipton Executive Director of Brownwood Municipal Development said.
Tipton said the city of Brownwood is working to help the people in the community who will be without a job this June by collaborating with Abilene Workforce Solution in hopes to have a job fair this May.
“It’s really important we help them find a solution to this we are working with Kohler and work force solutions to help find placement for them as soon as possible,” Tipton said.
Currently the city of Brownwood’s unemployment rate is 3.4% and as far as the city’s economic stability Tipton said the city should be able to withstand the hit of this major job loss.
“There's a good chance we will be able to connect these people with other employments opportunity pretty quickly,” Tipton said.
