San Angelo Police investigating fatal crash involving 19-year-old

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE: The San Angelo Police Department identified the 19-year-old driver that died in a single-vehicle crash late Thursday as Austin Imboden of Round Rock.

The San Angelo Police Department said late Thursday it was conducting an investigation into a fatal crash investigation on Mobile Park Drive near Cameo Lane (private property).

According to the preliminary crash investigation, Imboden was driving a 2001 Honda Civic westbound on Mobile Park Road. His vehicle left the roadway and collided head-on with a tree, which caused the vehicle to ignite, according to the report. The crash occurred before 9 p.m.

Alcoholic beverages were found inside the vehicle. It is unclear if Imboden was driving impaired at the time of the crash, according to the press release. Blood test results are pending. 

Imboden was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Fred Buck.
