ABILENE, Texas — One home is a total loss and one received more than $30,000 in estimated damages after a fire broke out early Tuesday morning in Abilene.
The Abilene Fire Department said at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street. A single-family home was fully involved and the house next door had fire showing.
Crews made an initial attack on the second house and were able to limit the damage. A second alarm was called to help extinguish the first home, which the AFD said was a total loss.
The second home received estimated damages of $30,000. All occupants were able to escape the homes and the Red Cross was notified to help them.
The AFD said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
