ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of East Hwy 80 early Wednesday morning.
A press release from the AFD said at approximately 4:48 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to a hotel fire in the 800 block of East Hwy 80.
Crews found light smoke coming from an unoccupied upstairs room and forced the door open to gain access. They found a mattress and some clothing on fire inside the room.
The fire was quickly extinguished and all other people in the building were safely evacuated without injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The AFD said the estimated value of damage is $100.
