CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas — An Abilene man died Tuesday evening after a two-vehicle crash on State Hwy 36, four miles west of Denton Valley.
A preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said a pickup truck driven by Robert Brandon King of Clyde was traveling east on SH 36 and a pickup truck driven by James Edward Johnson of Abilene was traveling west.
King's truck lost traction, went into a spin and was hit on the left side by Johnson's truck. Johnson's truck caught fire and was completely burned, the report said.
King was taken to an Abilene hospital, where he was treated and released.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
