ABILENE, Texas — UPDATE: The Abilene Police Department posted a video on its Facebook page Friday afternoon saying it is new video of three children walking on North 11th Street near the time of the reported suspicious activity incident.
"New video of three kids, male and two younger females, walking in the 3800 block of N. 11th St. around the time of the reported suspicious incident (7:19 pm. last night). If you are the parents of these children, we ask that you contact our non-emergency number, 673-8331, so that we may follow up with them. We would like to conduct a welfare check. These three are not the children who called to report the incident."
ORIGINAL STORY: The Abilene Police Department is asking for the public's help after a suspicious incident was reported by a group of children.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, a group of children playing outdoors in the 1100 block of Glendale Drive in north Abilene reported a young white female, around age 7, with black or brown hair, got into a dark blue van with a red stripe on the hood.
The boys told police there were two adult men in the van, and the girl did not want to get in. The driver of the van was possibly Hispanic and the passenger white.
The APD said it does not have any reports of a missing child related to this incident. A canvass of the area for information and evidence of a crime continues.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the non-emergency number at 325-673-8331, or if it is an emergency, 9-1-1.
