ABILENE, Texas — A single-vehicle crash in south Abilene claimed the life of a 29-year-old Abilene man, Abilene Police said Thursday.
According to an APD press release, at approximately 4:14 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, officers responded to a major crash in the 5200 block of Loop 322.
The release said a motorcycle was traveling west on the overpass in the 5200 block of Loop 322, when it hit the concrete barrier, causing the rider to lose control before being thrown from the motorcycle.
The rider, identified as Billiejoe Brooks Jr. of Abilene, died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mike McAuliffe. Next of kin notification has been made.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash at this time, police said. The crash remains under APD investigation.
