Abilene PD mounted patrol to make debut at trunk or treat event Thursday

The officers and their horses will be located in an area available for public interaction, the APD said.

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department will introduce its newly-graduated, newly-formed mounted unit during the APD Trunk or Treat at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.

The APD said the unit is comprised of four APD officers and their personal horses that will serve as the APD Mounted Unit.

The officers and their horses will be located in an area available for public interaction, the APD said. 

“This is a proud moment for the Department and for our community. It is a chance for these goodwill ambassadors to have positive interaction with our community. Abilene will see the Mounted Unit at various events throughout the community,” Chief Marcus Dudley said in an APD release.

The unit is comprised of Officer Kenneth Welch and Gambit; Officer Sean Yargus and CB; Officer Jessica Watkins and Wyatt; and Officer Larry Hill and Argo.
