ABILENE, Texas — After posts on social media rumored a student with a gun at Mann Middle School Friday, the Abilene Police Department started an investigation and discovered a toy gun had been found and confiscated from a student at the school.
The APD said the toy was confiscated without incident by school staff and the school resource officer and no specific threats were made to students or staff.
The department will have additional officers at the school for the safety of students and staff, the APD said, and has been working collaboratively with Abilene Independent School District since the incident was reported.
