Abilene woman killed in two-vehicle crash on US 277

The Texas Department of Public Safety said one of the drivers failed to stay in their lane, causing the deadly crash.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas — An Abilene woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning 14 miles southwest of Abilene on US Hwy 277.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Aurelia L. Clark, 47, was traveling south on US 277 and an SUV driven by Ellen D. Daugherty, 53, of Abilene, was traveling north. 

DPS said Daugherty failed to maintain the lane and hit Clark's car. 

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Daugherty was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with serious injuries, DPS said.

The crash is still under investigation.
