UPDATE: Arrests made in connection with infant found dead at Lake Fort Phantom Hill

A 20-year-old woman and her 35-year-old boyfriend were arrested early Friday morning.

ABILENE, Texas — UPDATE (9 a.m. Sept. 13): Two arrests have been made in connection with the baby girl whose body was found Aug. 31 at Lake Fort Phantom Hill near Sea Bee Park in Abilene.

The Abilene Police Department said early Friday morning, Criminal Investigation detectives arrested 20-year-old Heather Rose Kennedy and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Donald Schultz, both of Abilene.

Schultz is being charged with second-degree felony tampering with a human corpse and a third-degree felony failure to comply with sex offender registry. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Kennedy is charged with second-degree felony tampering with a human corpse. She is being held on a $350,000 bond.

A release from APD did not specify how the two were related or connected to the infant. 

APD detectives were working on an anonymous tip received through Abilene Crime Stoppers.The department recognized detectives and officers from varying units who helped bring charges against Kennedy and Schultz. Major Investigations and Street Crimes all assisted in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE (Sept. 10): Preliminary autopsy results have come back on the baby girl found dead at Lake Fort Phantom Hill near Sea Bee Park.

Abilene Police say the results show she was between 6 and 10-1/2 months old. Her race has yet to be determined.

UPDATE (Sept. 9): The Abilene Police Department says it continues to search for information and any tips related to the case of an infant whose body was found at Lake Fort Phantom near Sea Bee Park. 

The department says there are no updates to the investigation, as of Monday.

UPDATE (2:40 p.m. Sept. 3): An infant's body was found  just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Lake Fort Phantom near Sea Bee Park prompting the Abilene Police Department Criminal Investigations to open a death investigation.

APD says it was apparent the infant's body, which was determined to be a girl under the age of one, had been there for some time.  The infant’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Because of the victim’s age and the integrity of the case, information that can be released will be limited. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

ORIGINAL STORY: Abilene Police are investigating the death of an infant, according to APD Public Information Coordinator, Rick Tomlin.

Limited information is available from the department Tuesday, but Tomlin said he will be speaking with the detective working the case and will release more information Tuesday afternoon.
