ABILENE, Texas — If you're flying out of Abilene Regional Airport anytime soon, you're going be temporarily required to bring a printed or digital boarding pass (and your state-issued ID) to be able to get through the security checkpoint, as of Thursday, June 20.

Until this week, passengers have not been required to present boarding pass along with ID at the security checkpoint - they've been able to get through security with ID only.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is removing old passenger ID screening equipment and updating to a more efficient, automated version. Until TSA personnel are trained on the new system, all passengers must present their boarding pass and state-issued ID to the screening agent to be allowed through the checkpoint.

Keep in mind, the American Airlines ticket counter closes 45 minutes before each departure, so if you need a printed boarding pass from the ticket counter, you'll need to get your boarding pass before it closes.

You'll retrieve the boarding pass at the counter on the other side of the security checkpoint and board your flight.
