ABILENE, Texas — The North 5th Street intersection reconstruction will be added to Phase 1 of the Cypress Street Improvement Project, beginning Monday, Aug. 5.
As a result, the North 5th and Cypress intersection will be closed for the duration of Phase 1, which is expected to be completed by early October.
Traffic flow will temporarily be open on North 6th Street – the area between the hotel and the convention center – for two-way traffic between Cypress and Cedar streets.
Drivers should note that no stopping or parking are allowed in this area, as it is designated as a fire lane and there are two traffic bumps in this location.
Once North 5th is reopened, North 6th (fire lane) will be closed again.
