ABILENE, Texas — A fire at a duplex apartment in the 600 block of East North 16th Street in Abilene caused significant interior damage early Thursday morning.
The Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire call at around 4:10 a.m. Thursday. Crews found the duplex apartment with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.
One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to get out of the home and call 911. The person was taken by MetroCare to a local hospital for treatment of minor burn injuries, the AFD said.
The AFD says the cause of the fire that caused an estimated $20,000 in damages is under investigation.
