ABILENE, Texas — At approximately 2:46 a.m. Tuesday, the Abilene Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire engulfing a Burger King/convenience store in the 1600 block of Antilley Road.
According to an AFD press release, fire crews got to the scene to find the restaurant and convenience store with heavy smoke venting from the top of the building, before entering to find the fire, but were forced back out because of extreme heat and smoke.
Heavy fire in the attic area prevented crews from staying interior and they were "forced to go defensive."
Crews are currently still on scene working the fire.
No injures have been reported at this time, and the AFD said the building will be a total loss.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
