ABILENE, Texas — A Hardin-Simmons University graduate, Dr. Jacob West, has been named as the associate dean of Logsdon School of Theology at his alma mater.
The school is housed in the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts and offers undergraduate degrees in biblical studies, theological studies and ministry.
“We are excited to be at Hardin-Simmons. My history with HSU and family ties in the region were strong lures back to campus. I want to strengthen Logsdon’s ties to West Texas churches and build a team to guide new ministries to love and lead the church,” West said in an HSU release.
West received a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, followed by a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry, all from Hardin-Simmons University. Complementing his academic journey, he has served at First Baptist Church Stamford, First Baptist Church Rotan, First Baptist Church Sweetwater and most recently as pastor at First Baptist Church Plainview.
He also served as an adjunct professor at Wayland Baptist University for the last four years.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jacob back to HSU in this new capacity,” HSU President, Eric Bruntmyer, said. “With his applicable experiences, Jacob will undoubtedly enrich our community and enhance our mission of providing an education enlightened by Christian faith and values.”
Excited about this new role at Hardin-Simmons University, West aims to strengthen the connection between Logsdon and West Texas churches, fostering new ministries to love and lead the church community, the release said.
