ABILENE, Texas — Hendrick Home for Children will commemorate its 85th anniversary with proclamations and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. June 21.
Guests will be led on campus tours and provided lunch after the event.
“Hendrick Home has been a home for children focused on the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical health of children since 1939,” Hendrick Home President and CEO, Erin Seabourne, said. “We are a community of hope and healing for children and families.”
Seabourne became Hendrick Home for Children’s first female president and CEO in June 2024, marking her as the fifth leader of the organization since its founding by Thomas and Ida Hendrick. Initially, the home housed 12 children from three families.
Its main building and several cottages underwent major renovations from 2019-2021. Currently, the campus spans 52 acres in Abilene and has served hundreds of families and children including the nearly 100 individuals who now live on the campus receiving assistance.
