ABILENE, Texas — An unidentified juvenile is in custody and facing state jail felony false alarm charge in connection to a social media threat against Abilene High School students and staff, the Abilene Police Department says.
On Monday, the APD and the Abilene Independent School District were made aware of the threat. AISD administrators worked with police to help identify the source of the threat.
Late Monday afternoon, APD officers took the juvenile into custody.
In a press release, the APD said, "The Police Department wants to thank the students, parents, and teachers for their assistance during this investigation. We encourage our community to say something if they see something that is concerning and a threat to our educational institutions."
