ABILENE, Texas — As a way to combat the summer heat, the Abilene Zoo is shifting its hours and introducing Roarin' Mornings, beginning June 1.

The zoo's summer hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last admission at 3 p.m.

A highlight of Roarin’ Mornings is the daily 10 a.m. Keeper Chat, where guests can learn about the zoo’s animals from the keepers. To help guests stay refreshed during their visit, the zoo is offering iced coffee featuring vanilla, Swiss chocolate and salted caramel.

Roarin’ Mornings is also introducing the Stroller Club, catering to parents of children ages 2-4. The parent-and-tot program provides a hands-on learning experience followed by the opportunity to explore the zoo. Stroller Club will run from 9:30-9:50 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“We’re excited to introduce Roarin’ Mornings and offer our guests more opportunities to enjoy the zoo during the cooler hours of the day,” Abilene Zoo Director, Jesse Pottebaum, said. “With early summer hours, educational programs like Keeper Chats, and fun initiatives like Stroller Club, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at Abilene Zoo this summer.”
