ABILENE, Texas — County music star Rodney Atkins is headlining this year's Rock and Roar at the Abilene Zoo June 14.
The event, presented by Bontke Brothers Construction and Black Plumbing, features the performance by Atkins after they enjoy up-close animal encounters, yard games, free train rides and giraffe feedings from 5:30-8 p.m.
Rock and Roar also features a variety of food options, including brisket plates, a kids’ meal and jalapeño poppers. Spirits, wine, and beer will be available for purchase, along with non-alcoholic beverages.
“We’re thrilled to host Rodney Atkins at this year’s Rock and Roar,” Abilene Zoo Director, Jesse Pottebaum, said. “It’s a unique opportunity to enjoy great music while experiencing the Zoo in a new way. And all of the proceeds go right back to supporting the zoo. Where else can you enjoy live music with a lion roaring in the background? It’s an event unlike any other in Abilene.”
Ticket prices will vary to accommodate all guests. They include admission to the entire zoo and are available at a discount for zoo members.
