Three new Abilene High coaches announced

The AHS girls soccer and volleyball teams and boys cross country program have new faces leading them in the new school year.

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene ISD Executive Director of Athletics Jim Garfield announced three new coaches for the Abilene High School athletics program Thursday. The three will lead volleyball, girls soccer and boys cross country.

T-Keeyah Hall-Fanner is the new head volleyball coach at AHS. She spent two years as head volleyball coach at Newman Smith High School at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Her coaching experience includes serving as the head volleyball coach and junior high basketball coach for Electra ISD, head volleyball coach for Knox City-O’Brien CISD, and junior varsity volleyball and soccer coach for Monterey High School in Lubbock ISD. She has also coached multiple elite club volleyball programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and served as the middle school volleyball coach at Plainview Christian Academy.

Cory Oglesby is the new head girls soccer coach at AHS. She spent the past six years as head soccer coach at Keller High School and brings nearly 20 years of coaching and teaching experience to AISD. Before coaching at Keller, she was head girls soccer coach at Reedy, Brewer and Little Elm high schools. She was selected as the District 9-5A Coach of the Year while at Little Elm. She began her coaching career as assistant men and women’s soccer coach at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

Kayla Cunnings is the new head coach for the AHS boys cross country program. Before joining AISD, Cunnings served as the head coach for boys and girls cross country and girls track and field at Lake Worth High School at Lake Worth ISD. Her seven-year coaching and teaching career also includes head girls track and field coach at Rider High School at Wichita Falls ISD and assistant track and field coach for Copperas Cove High School at Copperas Cove ISD. In each of her coaching positions, Cunnings has led her athletes to qualify for regional competition. She is also a certified English teacher who has taught multiple levels of secondary English classes.
