Fire results in "total loss" of Abilene mobile home

A vacant neighboring mobile home also caught fire, but was only damaged on its exterior.

ABILENE, Texas — One mobile home was a total loss and another received exterior damage when a fire started late Monday in Abilene.

Abilene Fire Department crews responded to the fire in the 100 block of South Pioneer Drive and found a mobile home with heavy fire on the front porch that had spread to the inside of the home. A vacant neighboring mobile home was damaged on the exterior.

Five people were in the destroyed home and were able to escape unharmed. The American Red Cross was notified and arrived at the scene to help the occupants.

An estimated $10,000 in damages were caused by the fire that is currently under investigation.
