Treadfest is happening soon in Abilene

The bicycle race is geared for children under 10 who can ride the entire course without adult assistance.

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene's second annual Kid's Treadfest, a race for children under 10 who can ride without adult's help, is happening July 20 at Red Bud Park.

There will be three different heats: big wheels and trikes, training wheels and standard bicycles. The route will be 1 mile for training wheels and standard bikes and the big wheel/trikes heat will race about a quarter-mile. Staff will be stationed throughout the route to assist as needed. Helmets are required.

Saturday,  July 20

9 a.m. - Registration check-in

9:30 a.m. - Race starts

Red Bud Park, 3125 S. 32nd St., start will be by the playground

Open to children 10 and under (must be able to ride a bike without adult assistance for the whole course)

Cost is $10 per racer for early registrations plus a $5 admin fee, or $20 per racer for those who register the day of at the event in person

Helmets are required!
