SAN ANGELO, Texas — Dr. Michael Shane Powers, assistant professor of history at Angelo State University, will make the opening presentation at the Railway Museum of San Angelo’s new speaker series.
The speech, “Knights and Barons: The Great Southwest Railroad Strike of 1886", is free and open to the public at 5:30 p.m. April 21 at the Railway Museum of San Angelo, 703 S. Chadbourne St.
“San Angelo has a rich history that is rooted in the late 19th century. I am honored to be the first speaker for one of the grand dames – the Railway Museum - of our town. I’m excited to share about what was happening regionally and nationally in the railroad industry, the ramifications of which shaped the coming of the railroad to San Angelo," Powers said in a release from the museum.
The speaker series is part of the celebration of the Railway Museum’s 25th anniversary at the 112-year old railway depot. For more information, go to sanangelorailway.org.
