SAN ANGELO, Texas — Kyle Christian, the owner of the brand new Angoria Hotel, calls his business "the only boutique hotel in San Angelo."
Ahead of the 2024 San Angelo Rodeo, Christian and his staff have been working to finish upgrading the hotel's amenities to ensure the rodeo crowd has a good experience. On April 1, the hotel will open its coffee bar. Angoria will only serve Free Rein Coffee Co.'s product - a choice General Manager Carter Rowe said staff made to make sure it relied on local producers.
Rowe said the hotel has been busy since it opened weeks ago.
"Our first weekend open was the big weekend of the stock show, and we were 100% booked," she said. "We’re kind of a little bit more prepared now... And so, we are expecting quite a few people in for the rodeo. Those first few weekends are getting really, really full."
Near the front desk, the hotel has a touchscreen with an advertisement for this year's rodeo. There is also a tab on the screen where visitors can choose from a handful of Angoria-themed postcards, including one that features a photo of the Jackson House Motel - which stood where Angoria stands now.
Christian said working to open the hotel has been a process, but that his staff has set his business apart from other hotels in the area.
"Our staff cares a lot about being someone of high excellence," he said. "And we care about high excellence as an operation. So, that works really well together, and our guests get to experience that and they walk away feeling really, really good."
The San Angelo Rodeo begins April 5- two days after Angoria's ribbon cutting ceremony.
