SAN ANGELO, Texas — On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the San Angelo City Council approved using $100,000 in coronavirus relief (CARES) funding to be allocated to help with City water utility payments for low-income customers.
A release from the City of San Angelo's Public Information Office said, "Please note that this is only for water utility payments and not other non-City utilities such as electric or gas."
In January, the City partnered with the Concho Valley Community Action Agency (CVCAA) to administer the low-income assistance program. Through this partnership, $50,000 was provided, but most of those funds were used by March 2020.
Eligibility for the assistance is based on the number of people living in a household and household income level.
The partnership agreement with CVCAA was also amended to allow customers to receive financial assistance through this program twice per calendar year. If someone previously received assistance in 2020, they could still be eligible to receive assistance a second time.
The City encourages customers experiencing hardships to reapply.
Residents who are interested in the program should contact the Concho Valley Community Action Agency for eligibility and program information at cvcaa.org; or call 325-653-2411 or 877-41-CVCAA.
CVCAA offices are currently closed to the public, call or visit the website for more information.
