Statewide alert issued for attempt to locate woman wanted in connection to Mitchell Co. attempted murder

MITCHELL COUNTY, Texas — A statewide alert was sent to law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for a woman wanted in connection to an attempted murder investigation in Mitchell County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting call at around 10:40 a.m. Friday on Interstate 20 at milepost 224.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Kristopher Adams from Azle had a single gunshot wound and was in stable condition and communicating with law enforcement. Adams was taken to a Lubbock hospital for treatment.

Based on information from Adams, a statewide broadcast was issued for help from law enforcement to find a woman, who is possibly Hispanic with brown-black hair and tattoos on her right forearm who was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts and a gray sweatshirt.

DPS says the woman was also reportedly in a black 2012 GMC Yukon with Texas license plates - SXF2364.

Texas Rangers are helping the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.

Anyone with information that can help find the suspect or who witnessed the event is asked to call the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office at 325-728-5261.
