According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 16-year-old was traveling north on US 83, and had pulled the pickup truck he was driving over onto the right shoulder. He was taken to Ballinger Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report stated.
