BRONTE, Texas — A Bronte Community Blood Drive is planned for noon Friday in support of Ron Cooper, who is battling leukemia.

Donors will receive a T-shirt, Chick-fil-A and McDonald's coupons and an entry for a chance to win a $10,000 prepaid gift card.

The drive will be from noon-5 p.m. Friday at Bronte High School, 210 S. Jefferson St. To make an appointment, call or text Sara Fischer at 254-223-9531 or 877-258-4825 and reference Bronte Community.

Vitalant says it is also calling on all eligible donors to help with the continued emergency shortage of blood type O, the most in-demand blood type for patients, because of its universal use in life-or-death situations.

To encourage donations to help overcome the shortage, donors will be automatically entered in the drawing to win one of two $10,000 prepaid gift cards.
