Brothers arrested by Abilene PD on burglary and theft charges

The two siblings are tied to several burglaries and thefts throughout Abilene over a months-long span of time.

ABILENE, Texas — A pair of siblings has been arrested by Abilene Police in connection to a string of burglaries and thefts in the city.

According to an APD press release, the Abilene brothers were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 11, at a south Abilene home. The department’s Surveillance Apprehension and Tactic’s Team, along with Patrol and Property Crimes helped in their apprehension.

The brothers are tied to several burglaries and thefts throughout the City over the span of several months, the release said.

Richard Stroope is charged with state jail felony theft. Michael Stroope is charged with state jail felony burglary of a building, and state jail felony theft of copper.

Crimes against Property detectives are looking to close several cases the two brothers are suspected to be involved in. The investigation is ongoing.
